An open wound is an injury involving an external or internal break in body tissue, usually involving the skin. Nearly everyone will experience an open wound at some point in their life. Most open wounds are minor and can be treated at home. According to Health Line.
Home Health CC nurses monitor and assess wounds in collaboration with your health care provider to offer treatment options for optimal healing.
Wound care services at home include:
• Complex to simple wounds
• Gastronomy tubes and other devices
• VAC (vacuum assisted closure) dressing changes
• Post-surgical patients
Our Home Health CC nurses educate the patient until they feel confident in performing the wound care treatments alone. Our nurses will also provide education regarding infection control, signs and symptoms of infection and when to contact your physician.
